Well this is the first day and its a huge day for me. I have today decided that i will run the London Marathon in 2010. I will run it for a charity to be decided later in the year. As it stands today i am unemployed (lost job 31st March 2009) I am 21 stone in weight, i smoke, i drink occasionally and i have not made my legs move quicker that walking pace for what must be 13 years. I AM NOT A MARATHON RUNNER!!!

I recently got out of hospital because my appendix decided he needed to escape my large unfit self, he decided to move on and i cant fault him. I am not a happy environment to live in. So i need a couple of weeks before i can start running, but in this time i am going to look into changing my diet, commit to stopping smoking by visiting the stop smoking shop in Rotherham and absolutly plaster this blog everywhere i can. I am doing this for me first and foremost but to also hopefully raise a huge amount of money for a chosen charity. Please feel free to comment on suggested charities.

Over the last 2 years the two biggest hindrences in my life have been cannabis and gambling. I havent smoked or taken any sort of drug for 22 months and i havent gambled since 31st October 2008. Everyone who knows me would never believe i would give these two things up, but i did and im fully commited to keeping these two evils out my life. So this is the third and perhaps biggest thing for me to achieve. I can see the conversation “Joe running a marathon?” “Dont be so stupid!”

The last time i did any running was at school. Two laps of a large field, i couldnt do it, i came last everytime. To quote Blackadder i was like an asmatic ant carrying its shopping.

I MAY do it, i MAY not…………………We will KNOW in a year!!

Carry on reading the blog and i look forward to hearing and reading your comments.
